Mobile Myst

Filed under: Computers, Entertainment, Technology — admin @ 7:30 pm

myst

Just heard about a version of Myst that can be played on your mobile device. I would love to get a Blackberry and play this game, although I have not needed a Blackberry yet and just have a regular cell phone. Myst is a classic from the early days of MRPG.

Quick and Easy Lunch

Filed under: Business, Food — admin @ 11:31 am

We have back to back meetings today, so the Office Manager ordered lunch for everyone. She got some sandwich platters from a nearby deli, some potato salad and fruit salad, and a huge tray of cookies and brownies. That was very cool of the boss to bring in the food so we didn’t have to leave the building and run late for any of the meetings.

New Year – New Hope

Filed under: Holidays & Celebrations, Life — admin @ 3:52 pm

This year will be a good one for America. We have been through so much and we have elected a new Presdient who has big plans for us all. I am looking forward to a return to prosperity and old fashioned American values. Hell, even the President will be having his mother-in-law living with him. who can’t identify with that?

Batteries Included

Filed under: Home and Garden, Life, Technology — admin @ 10:15 pm

Stock up on batteries and put them all together in a safe place. Not only are you going to need batteries for the toys and gadgets that you buy as christmas gifts, but lots of things around the house need batteries. Most alarm clocks have a battery backup so that if you lose power the clock still keeps time for a day or so and the alarm will still go off at the right time. Smoke detectors need fresh batteries – pick a time of the year to check and replace them – how about the morning that we switch to daylights savings time or even New Years for an easy to remember anniversary. And always keep some flashlights scattered about the house and your vehicles for emergencies. There should be one by your bed, one in the kitchen and one by the fusebox – at a minimum.

Shop Now for Deals

Filed under: Finances, Laws & Lawyers, Life, Sittin & Thinkin — admin @ 12:05 pm

With all the news reports about this being a tough year for retail and that the economy stinks so we all have to do our part to help out by buying more stuff, I say bull!

A huge part of the reason the county’s economy is in trouble is because we have allowed ourselves to become credit junkies. We don’t save for anything any more. The ads are all about zero down, buy now-pay later, last chance to save, etc. All the pressure to spend money and put it on plastic or go into debt to the banks and worry about the escalating interest rates later.

We need to take responsibility for our own household’s finances and not spend more than we earn. We need to do the same thing with our governments – at the local, state and federal levels and we need to hold our elected officials accountable.

We, as household and as a government need to buy what we need, not just what we want. We should only spend what we have already earned – not what we expect to have come in, because you never know what could happen. We need to plan for our retirement, our aging and future medical needs, our kids college expenses, and for a rainy day. You can’t do that if you spend everything coming in and then some.
